In the early 1900s, young Montreal heiress Sara Stanley is sent by her wealthy father to live in the fictional small town of Avonlea on Prince Edward Island. Staying with her late mother’s relatives, including her maiden aunts Hetty and Olivia King, Sara grows up close to the King family as the series follows her adventures and the everyday lives of the town’s people.
