In the early 1900s, 10-year-old Montreal heiress Sara Stanley is sent by her wealthy father to Avonlea, a fictional small town on Prince Edward Island. Living with her late mother’s relatives, including her maiden aunts Hetty and Olivia King, Sara adjusts to a new home while the series follows her growing-up years, her family, and the townspeople around her.
