At 78, Carl Fredricksen feels that life has passed him by, though he has spent years dreaming of exploring the world and living more fully. A twist of fate changes everything when the grumpy old man lifts his house into the sky with balloons and sets off for South America, only to discover Russell, a persistent 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer, has come along as an unexpected stowaway.
