Millicent takes a semester off from her studies and accepts a babysitting job caring for Johnny, a sickly, mute child with severe allergies. His mother, Rebecca, is an author, and his father, Jacob, is a carpenter. As Millicent works on her thesis about children with severe allergies, her time in the family’s home leads her toward unsettling secrets, and the situation begins to unravel.
