Promised

In 1953, two young Italian children are promised to each other in marriage by their fathers. Twenty-one years later, the agreement still hangs over their lives. As the 1970s bring changing values, fading traditions, and a new sense of freedom, the pair are expected to honor a promise made for them long ago, even as refusing it could carry serious consequences.
